Lincoln HS - share information
#1
A couple parents already have ex-ACCESS children attending Lincoln.  One has volunteered to give us insights and answer questions.  Please ask here.

Here is some info I got from Lincoln on forecasting.

Greetings from Lincoln High School!

This communication is for families with a current 8th grader planning to attend Lincoln next year 2017-18.  If your student will be enrolled elsewhere, please notify our School Secretary, Katie Leathers, at KQLeathers@pps.net.  For our records, please indicate the name of the school so we may remove you from the Lincoln mailing list.

This month at Lincoln is "Forecasting February".  Students are identifying the courses they would like to take next year.  They review the Lincoln Course Guide, then complete and return Forecasting Sheets to our Counseling Department.  This information is vital in planning our Master Schedule for next year.  The Forecasting process was explained by our school counselors at the recent 8th Grade Night on Monday, February 13th at Lincoln and may serve as a follow up and reminder.  For those who were unable to attend, please follow the instructions below to ensure your student is included in the process.

If your student is currently attending a Lincoln feeder middle school (West Sylvan, Skyline, Robert Gray) and resides within the Lincoln boundary, they received Forecasting information and materials from Lincoln school counselors at their middle school on February 13th to take home.  Please check with your student for the Forecasting Sheet (green) and Course Guide (red). Your student does not need to re-enroll at Lincoln.  A Forecasting Sheet, updated Course Guide and Freshman Forecast Presentation are also now available online.  Please follow the instructions carefully and return the Forecasting Sheet to your middle school main office, not Lincoln, by Tuesday, February 21st.  Turning the Forecasting Sheet in to your middle school will inform them of your plans to attend Lincoln.  They will then forward the Sheet to Lincoln's Counseling Dept.

Some families will need to enroll at Lincoln before Forecasting can be completed.

If your student is currently attending a PPS middle school and resides within the Lincoln boundary, but is not at a Lincoln feeder school (ie. Access Academy, DaVinci, Jackson, MLC, Odyssey, Portland Village, etc), please complete the following steps.
Step 1:  Enroll at Lincoln.
Please go to Lincoln Enrollment Checklist and read the instructions carefully.  Please complete and return the required documentation, in person, to Lincoln’s Registration Office (room 104).  Your student will continue to use the same PPS Student ID number.

Step 2:  Complete a Forecasting Sheet.
Review the Freshman Forecast Presentation and Course Guide. Complete a Forecasting Sheet and return to your middle school main office by Friday, February 24th.  Turning the Forecasting Sheet in to your middle school will inform them of your plans to attend Lincoln.  They will then forward the Sheet to Lincoln's Counseling Dept.

If your student is currently attending a non-PPS school and resides within the Lincoln boundary, your email address was added to our listserv because you contacted Lincoln and provided your email address to be included in Lincoln communications. Please complete the following steps.
Step 1:  Enroll at Lincoln.
Please go to Lincoln Enrollment Checklist and read the instructions carefully.  Please complete and return the required documentation, in person, to Lincoln’s Registration Office (room 104). Once your student is enrolled at Lincoln, they will receive a PPS Student ID number which is required for Forecasting.

Step 2:  Complete a Forecasting Sheet.
Review the Freshman Forecast Presentation and Course Guide. Complete a Forecasting Sheet and return to Lincoln High School Counseling Office by Friday, February 24th. Turning the Forecasting Sheet in to your middle school will inform them of your plans to attend Lincoln.  They will then forward the Sheet to Lincoln's Counseling Dept.

If you have questions, please go to our Counseling Staff web page to identify your student’s counselor and contact them directly.
